Wednesday, June 5, 2024 EasyJet , a leading European low-cost carrier, announced the expansion of its Maltese network with the introduction of a new route connecting Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Malta International Airport (MIA). Commencing on December 10, 2024, the service will operate year-round with two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Sundays. This addition aligns with EasyJet’s strategic growth plans in Malta, reflecting a 30% increase in flights compared to 2023.

The new route follows recent service expansions from Malta to Bristol, Amsterdam, Basel, and Nice, further solidifying the airline’s commitment to the island nation. EasyJet’s dedication to Malta extends beyond passenger service. The airline has secured a deal to acquire the SR Technics maintenance facility in Malta, strategically positioning itself to service its growing fleet of over 330 aircraft.

“We boast a long-standing relationship with Malta and look forward to further strengthening our ties in the years ahead,” commented Ali Gayward, EasyJet’s Malta Country Manager. “The acquisition of a maintenance facility underscores our commitment to the region and allows us to efficiently service our expanding fleet.” This expansion provides passengers in Northwest England with enhanced connectivity to the sunny shores of Malta, while simultaneously bolstering EasyJet’s presence in the Mediterranean market.
