EAMONN Holmes is facing fresh heartbreak following his split from Ruth Langsford — the loss of custody of their beloved dog Maggie. The pooch, 14, which the former This Morning presenters adopted in 2011, is said to be like a “second child” to them, even appearing with the pair on the ITV show. Ruth shared a video of herself walking Collie cross Maggie on Sunday — her first post since the couple told The Sun their 14-year marriage was over.
They said they had been living separate lives for two years and Eamonn , who has faced health struggles of late, had recently moved out. Pals said he and Ruth are now having “difficult conversations” over who gets the dog. The pair, both 64, are trying to avoid calling in lawyers like Ant McPartlin and his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong did when they rowed about their mutt Hurley.
A source said: “Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability.
"It’s a case of who can give her that. Eamonn adores her and Maggie’s been such a support during his health woes . "The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him.
