Hitting up Milan’s eighteenth-century landmark Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber, Dsquared2 is ripping up the rulebook once more. From 1996 up til now, twin visionaries Dean and Dan Caten have been experimenting with Italian craftsmanship through contemporary Canadian streetwear. Identified by their use of splash-paint designs, distressed denim and punchy use of logos, the duo continue to assert their influence over casual luxury, inching towards a more edgy and versatile execution.
This time round, Dsqaured2 ventures into its Spring/Summer 2025 runway show with an eye for contrast and layering, pulling from a new source of inspiration. Thematically, professional wrestling weaves its way across the collection, establishing its presence through leather hot pants, oversized belt buckles and metallic colourways. At a closer look, the fashion house re-enforces the return of asymmetric cuts, drapes and stud detailing, creating cohesive yet rebellious looks through the use of forward-thinking material treatments.
Elsewhere, the Caten ensemble shift their focus towards kink and bondage stylings, sporting thigh-high lace-up sandals with strappy harnesses and tied-up silhouettes. In equal measure, the late nineties label unveils its harsh features beneath a veil of chiffon, whether that be in the form of a skirt, a shirt or a camisole. The result is playful and dynamic, a fighting match between elegant textures and racy statement pieces.
