Dream team or the odd couple? Ashley and Moulding in retail tie-up as Frasers buys luxury goods websites from THG By Emily Hawkins Updated: 22:00, 24 June 2024 e-mail View comments Sports Direct’s owner has bought luxury goods websites from THG. The deal is part of a wider tie-up that brings together two of retail’s biggest personalities. Frasers Group – where Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley is the largest shareholder with 73 per cent snapped up Coggles, AllSole and Mybag from online platform THG where founder and chief executive Matt Moulding has a 23 per cent stake.

Coggles sells high-end fashion including Ralph Lauren and Coach while AllSole and Mybag specialise in shoes and designer handbags respectively. A wider partnership also means THG’s protein powders will be sold in Sports Direct stores and Frasers will use THG technology across certain parts of its business. Frasers chief executive Michael Murray, Ashley’s son-in-law, said it was ‘just the start of an exciting partnership’. Moulding dubbed Frasers Group a ‘force in luxury fashion’. Ashley and Moulding are two of the country’s best-known retail tycoons and no strangers to controversy.
