DOIREANN Garrihy was left in tears on air after signing off on 2FM for the last time. The 32-year-old left 2FM Breakfast Show after five years working on the radio programme this morning. Emotions ran high as her beloved co-hosts Carl Mullan and Donncha O'Callaghan gave her a lovely send off.
Donncha started off his glowing speech by saying: "I'd like to speak on behalf of your whole 2FM family here that have been along with you for the journey. "We just want to say how grateful we are to you. You are an incredible teammate.
You've been like a sister to the two of us. When we need someone at our back you're always there and we're so grateful for it. "I've had brilliant teammates but you're right up there, an unbelievable talent, a work rate like no one else has, your ability to keep going is incredible.
Serious craic to be fair to you. "I speak on behalf of myself and Carl, that ability, resilience to keep going when all of the rats are chipping away. We are so proud of you.
"The greatest compliment I can give you personally, as a dad-of-three girls, I'd love if they ended up like you. Your family should be so, so proud of you. You never say goodbye to the good ones so we'll see you along the way.
" Carl described Doireann as being "funny, quick, professional and warm" and said she's "all round sickeningly talented". The 34-year-old started to choke up as he told her: "Like Donncha said, it's becoming a dad that has made me start to realise the qualities in people that I want .
