Doctor Who: Rogue kisses the Doctor goodbye Doctor Who fans had a lot to unpack in the latest episode of the long running BBC sci-fi drama. Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter , to admit they were "in tears" as The Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) loved and lost in an episode that drew heavily on Netflix regency set drama Bridgerton for inspiration. There was universal praise for Ncuti's performance and fans were loving guest star Jonathan Groff who played Rogue, a bounty hunter who stole The Doctor's heart.
There was also a touching tribute to original Who companion William Russell at the end of the show. The actor was best known for playing school teacher Ian Chesterton died aged 99 on June 3 . He appeared in the first ever episode titled An Unearthly Child and went on to star in nearly every episode of the first two seasons of the show alongside William Hartnell, who played the First Doctor.
He reprised his role an incredible 57 years later in Jodie Whittaker's final episode, The Power of the Doctor. He appeared as part of a "companion support group" and his return earned him a world record for the longest gap between TV appearances. The tribute only added to the emotional storyline as The Doctor and Rogue flirted from the off before sharing a passionate kiss right before Rogue sacrificed himself to save Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
