This is the time of year when contract holdouts become stories across the NFL. The Jets are dealing with one in Haason Reddick . Players who are unhappy with their contracts stay away from the team, putting the pressure on for a new deal.

Jets cornerback D.J. Reed is not one of those players.

Reed is entering the final year of a three-year, $33 million contract he signed in 2022. He is due to make a base salary of $10.5 million this season.

He could be viewed as underpaid with the way he has played in the past two years. But don’t expect to hear that from Reed. “I signed a three-year deal, so I expect to play three years here and go into free agency,” Reed said Wednesday at Jets’ mandatory minicamp .

“I feel like now for me, honestly, it’s more of a peace of mind,” Reed said. “Financially, I’m doing well. It’s less stress going into free agency this time for me.

I love football. Obviously, we want to get paid and stuff, but for me, financially I’m doing good, so it’s not really stressful for me.” Reed said he does not expect a new deal from the Jets but would be open to one.

“The ball is in the Jets’ court,” he said. “I love being.
