Sage Smeltz stole the show while erasing eight Bulldogs by strikeout. Her dominance at the mound had the entire Viking bench on their feet, cheering with the crowd.

“Everything was going so good,” Smeltz said. “Everything was going my way. All my pitches were working; everything was just great.

” But Smeltz didn’t stop at the mound. She started the scoring rally for Williams Valley. In the bottom of the first inning, Smeltz’s blooper into right field brought in Ella Kobularik for the game’s first run.

The Vikings wouldn’t stop there. A line drive into left field from Quin Smeltz would score a runner. The next batter in the order, Audrina Fry’s two-run home run sent the Williams Valley crowd into a frenzy after extending the lead to 4-0 in just the first inning.

“That’s pretty much our ‘M.O,’” Williams Valley head coach Ryan Underkoffler said. “We always try to get those early starts to put the pressure on the other team, and it really helped us today.

” The scoreboard would have a break until the bottom of the third, when Fry’s fence-smacking line drive brought her to third while scoring Sage Smeltz. Immediately following, K.
