Peet, owner of the Throttle Girls clothing label and founder of the Girls Can Ride moto group, was riding in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane when she came off her bike while landing a jump on June 29. She suffered broken ribs, a punctured right lung, broken wrists and serious damage to her spinal cord, leaving her with no feeling at all from her torso down.

Peet was airlifted to a hospital in Brisbane and later had surgery on her spine. 'We headed out to do some ramps to practice my jumping, as this has been a big focus and goal of mine this year,' she posted to Instagram. 'Not long into the morning, I was riding and doing the jump.

Little did I realise the next one was going to be the one that changed my life. 'I was sent over the handlebars from the way I had landed on the down ramp and the rest is now my reality.'
