Dick Strawbridge and his wife Angel purchased this vast French castle in 2015 for approximately £280,000. With their children Dorothy and Arthur, they embarked on a journey to revamp the chateau, inviting Channel 4 viewers to witness the transformation.
James, 40, and Charlotte, 38, are Dick's children from his first marriage to British engineer Brigit. For years, speculations have rumbled about which offspring would ultimately claim the chateau, but in 2022, James disclosed it would be his half-siblings Dorothy and Arthur who would inherit it. In a conversation with Express back in the day, James remarked, "When you go to the chateau the work being done with the renovation is quite quick compared to when you look at a house with a 500-year history.
" He furthered the comparison stating, "It's definitely more intense at the chateau than at these houses I visit [for my new series]. Arthur and Dorothy's great-grandchildren in many years' time and like one of the next generations will probably have a bit more of a chilled-out vibe." According to the Liverpool Echo , he also mentioned that Dick and Angel were still in the midst of "establishing" their Neo-Renaissance style chateau.
