Dick Strawbridge is determined not to let his health issues get the better of him after recently revealing he is to use a walking stick for at least six months. The 64-year-old, who has been referring to himself as "crusty colonel", recently told worried fans that he is recovering from a knee injury but was still managing to enjoy days out. In a new update, Dick shared details about a special family day out this month to commemorate the D-Day 80th anniversary.
Escape To The Chateau stars Dick and Angel took their children, Arthur and Dorothy, to the British Normandy memorial, where they were initially denied entry because they arrived five minutes before closing time. After a three-hour drive and search process, the TV star said he refused to accept no for an answer, especially given his current health issues, and managed to gain entry to the venue. ..Eau, he said: "Having a 12-year-old telling me when I'm all crusted up to be colonel that I'm not allowed to go and look at the memorial didn't work.
"There were hundreds of people there already and I think we were the first people to be stopped before 12. I'm afraid I'm crusty colonel with my walking stick, the answer is no. We went anyway, because, what are they going to do, arrest us?".
After gaining access to the memorial, the couple expressed how proud they were of their children for showing such interest in the historic event and educating themselves, reports the Express . T.
