Bayern Munich lost in heartbreaking fashion in the semifinals of the Champions League against Real Madrid . The night was filled with plenty of controversy as Thomas Tuchel’s defensive “masterclass” almost succeeded, but failed quite miserably in the final minutes. Unfortunately, Bayern was unable to join fellow Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the final of the competition and went home empty handed.

That match also signaled the end of Die Roten’s trophy hunt for the season as it guaranteed that Bayern would end the season trophyless for the first time since 2011/12. However, Bayern did earn some financial rewards for reaching the semifinals, roughly 130 million euros (roughly $141.1 million) according to @iMiaSanMia via @dpa .

The Bavarians did miss out on 20 million euros (approximately $21.7 million) as they did not qualify for the final : Bayern have earned around €130m in total from this season's Champions League. Reaching the final would have taken it to around €150m [ @dpa ] pic.
