(Image: Getty) Russia is sending injured soldiers back into battle in so-called "meat wave" assaults as Vladimir Putin 's military becomes increasingly desperate for manpower. Ukraine reports having captured Russians who are already suffering from wounds received during previous attacks.

Some Russians have reportedly been captured entering the battlefield again on crutches while other injured men have recorded videos begging superiors for better treatment, according to the Telegraph . The same publication cites Ukrainian soldiers who it says have said it is normal to see wounded men sent in to fight and that Ukrainian PoWs are being used by Russia as human shields. Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD) calculates that Russia is losing more than 1,200 troops per day in its illegal war in Ukraine and that its military is increasingly desperate to recruit.
