Former NBA player Drew Gordon was in Portland, Oregon on Thursday. He was 33 years old. Gordon played for the in 2014 and was the brother of star Aaron.
Drew's agent Calvin Andrews confirmed the former UCLA and New Mexico star's death. The San Jose, California native is survived by his wife Angela. He had three children.
Drew was a McDonald's All-American in high school and went on to enjoy a globetrotting career. His professional career began with Partizan in Serbia before stints in Italy and Turkey. His one season in came in 2014, playing in nine games for the Sixers while also representing the team's G League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers.
Spells in France, Lithuania and Russia followed, before playing for the Long Island Nets – the Brooklyn Nets G League affiliate from 2018-19. He headed back on the road again and played in Poland, Russia and Ukraine before his professional career came to an end in Japan in 2023. Drew, who played as a power forward and a center, earned All-Star honors in the French and Russian leagues and was named First-team All-Mountain West Conference in 2012 for his final season in New Mexico.
A spokesman for his alma mater said: "We are heartbroken over the passing of Drew Gordon. A two-time all-conference forward, he helped lead us to the 2012 Mountain West title." A statement from the Euroleague said it "joins the global basketball community in mourning the loss of Drew Gordon, who passed away on Thursday.
