Earlier this year it was revealed that Bernie had another child whom she gave up for adoption 31 years ago - and after some detective work she discovered him to be Kit, a policeman recently transferred to the Weatherfield branch. Kit has so far been hostile towards his mother, but in next week's episodes he tells her that he wants to discuss revealing his existence to siblings Paul ( Peter Ash ) and Gemma ( Dolly-Rose Campbell ).
