In a flashback episode, people discovered that it was Joel Deering (Calum Lill) who had injured the teen. ITV viewers saw the lawyer in the teen’s house as she tried to flee, however, he knocked her unconscious and appeared to repeatedly hit her over the head.
However, it was Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) who was arrested on suspicion of Lauren’s murder on Thursday evening. The arrest comes after her hair was found in the criminals van, which had been planted by newcomer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Despite viewers knowing who the real culprit is, Weatherfield residents are left believing it’s Nathan after Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was released from prison after the police initially believed it to be him.
With the mystery now solved, actor Calum Lill appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak about how his family reacted to the grand reveal. Rob Rinder, who was presenting the programme, asked: “I just wonder how you kept it a secret because you knew when you joined you were going to be revealed as the culprit. The Good Morning Britain host highlighted that the soap star’s nan is a Coronation Street fan, which must’ve been hard keeping that from her.
