CORBIN — The Corbin Redhounds had a season to remember this past spring, capturing the baseball program’s sixth 13th Region title while posting a 30-11 record during the process. The Redhounds’ season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion with a 5-4 nine-inning loss to Owensboro Catholic in the first round of the state baseball tournament, but that still does not take away the impressive season they had. Notching 30 wins is a hard feat to accomplish, but that wasn’t all Corbin did.

The Redhounds reached their goal of winning the 13th Region championship while also capturing the 50th District title as well. Corbin also ended the season of defending state champion Whitley County in the finals of the 13th Region Tournament after seeing the Colonels doing the same to the Redhounds in 2023. But what might have been most impressive for this year’s version of the Redhounds is the way Corbin battled and showed resilience throughout the season.

“There’s no question that our goal was to win region and go compete at the state tournament,” Philpot said. “We knew that would be difficult with the good teams in our district and region but also knew that we were very much capable. “We expected to compete from Day One,” added.

“We lost some games along the way but never lost sight of the end goal. The regular season is to learn and get better prepared for the postseason, if you can do that while winning, that’s a bonus.” After a 2-2 start to begin the season, Cor.
