Conor McGregor has lumped an eye-watering bet on Spain to win Euro 2024 which would see him bank more than $1million. But UFC fans can't escape the uncertainty surrounding McGregor's long-awaited return to the octagon, with fears that his UFC 303 clash with Michael Chandler has secretly been cancelled. There've been suggestions that the legendary Irishman, who last fought in UFC three years ago, has suffered an injury.
The event in Nevada is little over two weeks away and a quickly-deleted social media post from McGregor on Thursday only increased the level of concern. Later that day, though, McGregor shared another post after placing an $83,500 bet on Spain to win this summer's European Championship in Germany at 11/1. On X, formerly Twitter , the 35-year-old wrote: "Vamos Spain! Easy money on the Spaniards to win the Euros on my birthday! A nice mil for The Mac!" McGregor also tagged former Spain defender Sergio Ramos , who's won the Euros twice but retired from international football in early 2023.
Fans were stunned in the replies, with one saying: "Everyone is panicking about the fight and meanwhile your dropping soccer bets. Love it." A second followed-up by pleading: "UFC303 is in shambles Conor say something.
" A third simply replied to McGregor with: "Really bro." Some fans got straight to the point, with one asking: "What about your fight against Michael Chandler? Is it still on?" In similarly desperate fashion, another asked McGregor: "Fight still on?? We’re dying .
