Having attended the Central High School in Clarendon and knowing first-hand about the needs of students with musical aspirations from the parish, musician Kryss Ras of the Tower Band decided to assist where he could. He has pledged to donate funds from the inaugural staging of 'Masquerade: Short Shorts and Bikini Edition - The Ultimate Summer Party Experience' to assist students from two Clarendon-based high schools. The event, which is being promoted by Tower Band, will take place on June 22 at the Woodleigh Sports Complex in May Pen.
"My aim is to help to develop the careers of the youth who have an interest in music and the arts. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase musical equipment for both Central High and Denbigh High. The youth are the future and we want to play our part in steering them in the right direction," Kryss Ras explained.
Among the artistes scheduled to perform are Skeng, Shane O, 10Tik, and Knavi. Kryss Ras said the plan is to make the event an annual one. "It promises to be the highlight of the summer.
DJ Splackavelli will be hosting the event, while musical juggling will be done by ZJ Chrome, ZJ West, World Juff, Kevin Serious, and Code Ultimate, who will ensure a non-stop party atmosphere from start to finish," Kryss Ras shared. He added that the event is a way to take Tower Band's career to the next level. "We want to make Clarendon the party capital of Jamaica," he added.
Tower Band's releases include Rich in Spirit and Vincent Street ..
