For many of usbalancing work, family, and personal ambitions often leads to a whirlwind ofbusyness that can be overwhelming. Yet, the words of Jesus in Mark 6:30-32offer significant lessons on finding peace amidst our busy lives. The Bible says “Theapostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done andtaught.

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did noteven have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to aquiet place and get some rest.’ So they went away by themselves in a boat to asolitary place.” (Mark 6:30-32, NIV) From this passage, wecan draw three essential takeaways that are particularly relevant to our liveshere in the Cook Islands: 1) Prioritising spiritualrest In the hustle andbustle of daily life, it’s easy to neglect our spiritual well-being.

Theapostles were so busy they didn’t even have time to eat. Jesus recognised theirneed for rest and called them to a quiet place. This teaches us that no matterhow urgent our tasks seem, we must prioritise time with God.

In the Cook Islands, where community and family are central, finding a quiet place might mean takinga walk along the beach, spending time in prayer under a shaded tree, or settingaside time each morning to read God’s Word. Prioritising spiritual restrejuvenates and equips us to face our daily challenges with renewed strengthand clarity. 2) Embrace solitudewith Jesus Jesus invites us tocome away with Him to a solitary place.
