A Non-Governmental Organisation, DKT International Nigeria in partnership with Challenge Initiative TCI has launched a free medical outreach programme in Sokoto State, targeting 1000 household families for child spacing services. The Marketing Director DKT International Nigeria, Dr Titilayo Ajayi said the programme was aimed at enhancing maternal and productive health, and also seeks to mobilise families to demand and access child spacing services. Ajayi who spoke during the exercise at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital, Sokoto stated that the medical outreach on the first day targeted 500 women and similar services extended to 500 men and women in Offa road of Sokoto South Local Government Area of the state on the second day of the programme.

Dr Titilayo highlighted that DKT International Nigeria has trained community mobilisers who have to refer to service providers in the state. She said that the organisation has also conducted training in seven states with plans to expand to more states this year. In his remarks, the director of community health services at the primary healthcare development agency, Dr Tukur Magaji commended DKT International Nigeria for choosing Sokoto for the outreach programme.
