STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Philippine Independence Celebration of Staten Island (PICOSI) has announced the second annual Filipino Fiesta on Staten Island to be held on Saturday, June 8, from 10:30 a.

m. to 5:30 p.m.

The celebration of Filipino culture promises to be a fun-filled day of cultural activities on the campus of Sacred Heart School located at 950 Castleton Ave., West Brighton. The event, attended by more than 1,000 people in 2023, is the brainchild of Rev.

Rhey Garcia, pastor of Sacred Heart Church. “Guests will enjoy live performances showcasing the best of Filipino music and dance, with vibrant rhythms and captivating movements that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines,” said Eder Miranda, event organizer. “Indulge in the authentic flavors of Filipino cuisine in a variety of delicious dishes, from savory to sweet.

” The fiesta has been an annual cultural tradition for decades throughout New York City but is the only one of its kind on Staten Island. Emcees for the event are Tatiana Mroczek, Miss Staten Island 2022, and Angelica Santos Mroczek, Miss Staten Island Outstanding Teen 2020. Performers include: Bibak NY, Tochi Cantalejo, Daughters of Sacred Heart, Dance Central NY, NY Taekwondo Park, Fil-Am Senior Association, and Sacred Heart Band.
