This CCTV footage captured the horrendous moment a coward ran away from the scene of a car crash as his girlfriend lay dying on the roadside. The distressing clips showed the car travelling at a 'motorway speeds' along a residential road before the horrific crash, Wales Online reports. CCTV then captured a man running away from the vehicle - who we now know was Cameron Jones.
Jones, described as 'inhuman' by a judge, left his partner Demi Mabbitt with critical injuries at the roadside. He ran from the scene as she lay unconscious. He then collected his bag from the smashed car and ran, Merthyr Crown Court heard. The 30-year-old had only been out of prison for 30 days at the time of the crash and was at the wheel of a powerful car with two virtually bald tyres and windows so heavily tinted they were dangerous. Tragically, Miss Mabbitt, 25, died after suffering from traumatic brain injuries.
Jones has this week been sentenced to 10 years in prison. A judge in court threw out suggestions from the defendant that Miss Mabbitt was the 'love of his life'.
