Cases of children with whooping cough have risen sharply in Devon and Cornwall (Image: Getty) The UKHSA (United Kingdom Health Security Agency) has warned that cases of whooping cough in Devon and Cornwall in April were more than double the total for the entirety of 2023. They said they had detected 47 infections in April in comparison to 20 for the 12 months to August 2023. Following the findings, doctors have warned parents to look out for the symptoms of whooping cough which can be life-threatening in some cases for newborn babies.
