Carlos Yulo makes three-peat in Asian Championships vault

MANILA, Philippines — Like in the floor exercise, Carlos Yulo bagged his third consecutive gold medal in the vault competition of the Senior Men's Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday, May 19.The Filipino ace once again proved he's skilled in the apparatus with an exquisite performance that netted him 14.883 points in the final.The vault performance conquest in this Tashkent edition thus raised Yulo's good medal haul to three following his victories at the individual all-around on Friday and floor exercise on Saturday.Yulo, a 2021 world champion in vault, looks to collect more medals as he competes in the championship round of the parallel bars and horizontal bars later.Uzbekistan's Abdulaziz Mirvaliev claimed the silver medal with 14.783 points while Malaysia's Sharul Muhammad Aimy pocketed the bronze with 14.466 points. Yulo's teammate and compatriot Juancho Miguel Besana was poised to make the podium at third place but ultimately got bumped off by Aimy who performed last in the 8-man field.Besana settled for fourth place with 14.150 points.
