Performing in the UK for the first time in 13 years, Capleton delivered a fiery performance that left over 30,000 fans almost spellbound at the City Splash festival. Dressed in a shiny bronze outfit, he radiated a powerful energy which seemed to chase away the last of the grey skies hovering over the venue in Brockwell Park in Brixton, London. " None ah dem no badder than me ," he deejayed as he did Tun It Up, while the fans did the 'lion paw' dance, punching their hands at the grey skies.
Capleton could do no wrong as he reeled off positive testimonies and community-centric messages of self-belief, self-actualisation and personal power in-between megahits and cult classics like Slew Dem , Raggy Road and Jah Jah City . At one point, he paused and turned the microphone to the audience as they sang Or Wah word for word. The 'King of Fire' delivered his signature high jumps and kicks that ignited the crowd, and at the end of the night, many fans took to social media to name Capleton as their highlight of the festival.
Other performers at the event included Shenseea, Busy Signal, Anthony B and Queen Omega, a reggae singer born in Trinidad and Tobago. The annual City Splash festival is known for its advocacy of black music, food, dance and style that has made it one of the UK's most essential festival experiences. Capleton will now turn his attention towards his own popular charity show A St Mary Mi Come From, which will be back on the entertainment calendar in 2024 after a five-y.
