Two young people killed in a double- murder have been named by police tonight. Early indication suggests Lauren Evans, 22, and 24-year-old Daniel Duffield, were killed, although formal identification is still due to take place. Staffordshire Police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to recent police contact.

It is thought Mr Duffield, from Cannock, to have worked for the local ambulance service. Ms Evans was from Bridgend, south Wales, it is understood. Writing on Facebook on Tuesday night, Mr Duffield's sister Louise Duffield said: "Never ever thought I'd have to write this post (but) my beautiful brother has left us today.

I'm so distraught you've gone. I will never come to terms with it that you're no longer here. You (were) such a bright soul, always helping other people making them smile, laugh, saving lives but unfortunately you couldn't help yourself.

" A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Formal identification is still due to take place, but we believe both of their identities to be 22-year-old Lauren Evans, from Bridgend, South Wales, and 24-year-old Daniel Duffield, from Cannock. A team of specially-trained officers are continuing to support their families at this distressing time. "We’ve referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to recent police contact.

A number of officers are still in the area today carrying out enquiries to understand more about what happened." Detectiv.
