The Bumblebee1000 supercar road trip raised over €200,000 for seriously ill children and their families as it made its way through the country this week. Coming into the finish line of its trip in Kinnegad Plaza on Wednesday the cars were met by a well-dressed platoon of Little Blue Heroes Honorary Gardaí in their little uniforms waiting expectantly for the supercars to bang, rev, and roar their way across the “Fast and Furious” finish line. Also waiting with the excited crowds were Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and most of the volunteer Gardaí and staff from the Little Blue Heroes Foundation from all over Ireland.
The foundation are united in their mission to help over 700 seriously ill children and their families right now in 2024. Garda Alan Keane, Secretary and Family Liaison Officer, and Ann-Marie Keane of the Little Blue Heroes were in attendance, coordinating the Honorary Gardaí and their families as the children excitedly attended the VIP start-line at Barberstown Castle, with exciting finish lines each day in Belmullet, Limerick City, and the event finish line at Kinnegad Plaza. This final event was hosted by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, along with Joe Duffy, Ireland’s most beloved radio presenter, and our two twin masters of ceremonies, Al Foran and our very own and very much loved, Bob Flavin (Sir Bob).
