A broken pump has left the surface of the water in People's Park pond covered in waste. Currently, much of the water within the popular Grimsby park appears to be in a poor state, with pictures showing thick lumps of algae and dirt forming in large sections of the pond, as well as mud and bird mess. Litter also appears to be strewn across the surface of the water.

The cause of the issue - particularly the forming of algae - is said to be down to a broken aerator pump, which filters and improves the quality of the water and ensures there is enough oxygen flowing. The fountains in the pond are also currently out of action. He said: "During my time as one of the Park ward councillors, repairs and general maintenance of the fountains in People’s Park was widely publicised in the media and on social media, including a feature on Look North. The matter should never have got to the stage where attention is brought to the local media, let alone regional, and was certainly not due to any lack of pressure being applied by ward councillors.
