A British holidaymaker has been rushed to hospital after being revived on a Spanish beach following a near-drowning. The 58-year-old man was admitted to an intensive care unit after emergency responders saved his life. The drama happened yesterday around 3:30pm at Cala Millor, a popular beach on Majorca’s east coast.

One local report said he had been snorkelling around 100 feet from the shore when he got into problems in the water and went into cardiac arrest . Two lifeguards went to his aid and brought him out of the sea while a colleague dialled 999. They practiced CPR on him before paramedics took over after arriving.

He was rushed to Manacor Hospital after being revived at the scene and admitted to intensive care in a “serious” condition. No-one at the hospital could be reached early this morning for comment. It was not immediately clear whether the unnamed holidaymaker was alone or with family or friends.

Cala Millor is the nearest beach to the Majorcan Love Island villa close to the sleepy village of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar. It is a favourite of British holidaymakers . The large sandy beach, more than a mile long, is described online as “beautiful” by recent visitors.
