A new bus route launches for the first time today. Brighton and Hove Buses' new 1X express service will take people from Mile Oak to Brighton Marina seven days a week. The new route is part of the Brighton and Hove Bus Service Improvement Plan to provide a more efficient service across the city.

Brighton and Hove Buses said that more services will also be added to the route 1 journey to continue serving Whitehawk residents who were previously using the discontinued 1A route. Councillor Trevor Muten, cabinet member for transport, parking and public realm, said: "The 1X is going to be a great addition to the city, complimenting existing services and cutting journey times to key areas of Brighton and Hove like the hospital and the city centre.

"The Bus Service Improvement Plan funding is designed to support cheaper travel, more reliable journeys, grow bus usage and increase passenger satisfaction. "I think the 1X will do all that and more. "We have a fantastic bus network in Brighton and Hove.
