SIOUX CITY -- Briar Cliff University has its new president. Dr. Matthew Draud, right, the new president of Briar Cliff University greets Sister Pat Clemen, vice president of the Sisters of St.

Francis of Dubuque leadership team, Tuesday, following an announcement marking his hiring as the Sioux City university's 13th president. At back is Lisa Bertrand, vice president of Briar Cliff's board of trustees. Draud will start at Briar Cliff on July 1 and is currently the vice president of academic affairs at McMurry University.

He has previously taught as a tenured professor of biology. Tim Hynds, Sioux City Journal Tuesday morning, the school named Matthew Draud its 13th president. Draud is currently the vice president of academic affairs at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and will officially start his new position on July 1.

When Draud received the phone call that he was selected as president, he said he was excited. "He called me on a Saturday to offer me the job and I literally jumped out of my chair," he said. "It is phenomenal to have this opportunity.
