A Brazilian singer has died suddenly in a freak accident while performing live on stage, as horrified fans watched on. Ayres Sasaki, 35, was mid-performance at a hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil on Saturday when he was electrocuted on stage and died “instantly”, according to The Sun . Early reports suggest a soaking wet fan came up to the singer and hugged him on stage, seconds before he suffered the electric shock from a cable and was killed.
Local police have launched an investigation into how the musician died, including finding out how the soaked fan became wet. A statement from the Solar Hotel to The Sun said it was “co-operating with authorities”. “We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures,” the hotel said.
“We reaffirm our commitment to fully co-operating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events.” Sasaki’s social media said he also worked as an urban architect, and had married his wife less than a year before his death. “A super charismatic guy, his talent was absurd,” Sasaki’s friend Adriano Freitas told local news site G1 .
“He was the best voice and guitar player in Belém! A great friend, a great family man, attentive to his friends and to those who liked his work. “We were friends in everyday life, beyond music.”.
