Calls to improve a 'dangerous' junction have once again been made following a crash at the weekend. Two people were taken to hospital on Sunday at the Bradshaw Road, Bury Road, Ramsbottom Road and Watling Street junction, on the border of Tottington, Bolton and Edgworth. A man in his 20s was later arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Police cordoned off the busy junction which links Turton and Tottington for around five hours with it re-opened just after 9pm. Now the crash has once again prompted calls for to improve the junction, with residents saying there have been a number of collisions there. Emma Jenkinson said: “I am so surprised there are not more accidents at this junction.
“It is literally a game of Russian Roulette negotiating it. “Same applies to the other end of Turton Road at the junction where Carmelo's restaurant is. “Both very dangerous and need lights or mini roundabouts in my opinion.
” Another resident said she used the junction often and was aware of many accidents happening at the same place, suggesting traffic lights. Carole Zagrour said: “I use this junction on a near daily basis and have seen numerous incidents there. “It is a very dangerous junction which, in my opinion, needs traffic lights.
“Also, we arrived at the junction at 7.30pm coming down Bradshaw Road from an area of Bolton, we had to turn round as there was no advance warning of the road closure.” Another resident.
