Fun for everyone is guaranteed this weekend when Bolton Fire Station opens its doors. The fire station on Moor Lane will hold its annual open day on Saturday, with everything from emergency demonstrations, food and drink, bouncy castle for the children — and importantly a chance to meet local firefighters and take away life-saving advice. The open da y is one of the biggest social events on the town's calendar attracting scores of people throughout the day — and a key part of the fire service's work to keep the Bolton community safe.
This year, the big message will be road safety to reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities on Bolton's roads. Visitors to the open day, which starts at 10am, can also meet their local police officers, have a look around fire engines and other emergency vehicles, as well as meet the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team. John Greenhalgh, one of the crew managers on White Watch at Bolton Fire Station said: "There will be plenty going on throughout the day.
"We will have our wildlife vehicles there and the water incident unit. "There will be a bouncy castle for the children. We will have a number of demonstrations on the day, including rope and ladder demonstrations and also a road traffic collision demonstration.
