Crowds flocked to a fire station's open day as firefighters have said how busy the day was. Bolton Fire Station held the event yesterday, July 6 , with plenty of people heading down to meet firefighters and see the engines up close. Also at the day were GMP, Bolton Mountain Rescue, NWAS, the Salvation Army, Bolton Advanced Motorists and more.

Crash and rescue demonstrations were held, as well as a firefighter experience. Children were also given the chance to sit in police cars and fire engines. "It was well attended and really well received. There was a firefighting experience, we did a road traffic collision demonstration, a rescue demonstration. "We had appliances from White Watch and other stations came and assisted.

" Giving thanks to people who came, he added: "Greater Manchester Police turned out, their traffic officers, which has tied in with our road safety campaigns.
