However, her history with the show didn't start there as it turns out she was watching the program since it first aired almost 10 years earlier in 1987.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, Maitland said: "I was in an acting workshop with a casting director for The Bold and the Beautiful and that's actually how she saw me and said, 'Come and audition for this role of this teenage girl that was coming'. So it was kind of like a whirlwind there because first of all I was a soap fan. "I was definitely a soap fan from my preteen years.
I watched Days of Our Lives, I had watched the first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful when it came out when I was a kid, so it was fun." Maitland started the audition process for The Bold and the Beautiful when she was just 16 years old and started working on the show when she was 17. She said her age helped her stand out in the acting workshop because she was "different from the rest of the class".
The actress added: "Coming out of the show was just mind-blowing because I was just immersed in this world and I was like a star on the show when I had been a fan for so long. And the cast was amazing, they really took care of me." Maitland admitted being on The Bold and the Beautiful felt like a "great wild ride".
