The weather is right for eating outside. And thankfully, there are plenty of spots in the Quad-Cities to do so. There are dog-friendly patios, food truck lots, festivals and fairs.
This area is a glorious place to be in if your goal is baking in the heat while eating something baked. After my visit to the restaurant last week, I'd recommend adding Riverfront Grille to the top of your summer dining to-do list. On my visit, I instinctively grabbed a seat indoors.
As the restaurant was dealing with a lunch rush, I'm glad I did, so servers didn't have to trot all the way to the outdoor patio amid the chaos. But when I return, I know I'll be eating outside. The Riverfront Grille patio faces the Rock River, with a beautiful, green view of the water and colorful picnic tables to sit on.
On my next visit, I also know what I'll be ordering: the Smoke House Tendy, a new item on the Riverfront Grille menu that I knew I had to try for its novelty. The "smoke house tendy" at Riverfront Grille has a grilled pork tenderloin, pulled pork, grilled onions, pepper jack cheese and bacon jam. The Smoke House Tendy is a grilled pork tenderloin sandwich.
But it's not your typical tenderloin. Served on a firm, toasted hoagie bun, the Smoke House Tendy is topped with pulled pork, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and bacon jam. It's sloppy and sweet, tangy and titanic.
I guarantee that this dish will leave half its toppings on your plate. It's a handheld, but it's also a hand painter. You'll need al.
