A local businessman was beaten up and his house vandalised by a mob after a Kangaroo court session convened by a TMC leader in Howrah district of West Bengal. Published: July 10, 2024 5:33 PM IST By In yet another incident of mob ‘justice’ in West Bengal, a businessman in Howrah district was reportedly beaten up and his home ransacked by a mob after a local panchayat pradhan and a TMC leader, convened a kangaroo court session to resolve the victim’s marital dispute. According to the police, the victim, identified as Sahabuddin Sepai– a local businessman– had agreed partake in Kangaroo court session to resolve his marital dispute.

However, things got heated during the session as Kandua gram panchayat pradhan and local TMC leader Khalil Ahmed confronted the businessman. Locals said Ahmed and his associates abruptly left the session after a heated verbal spat with Sepai, but soon after they left, the businessman was beaten up by a mob and his house vandalised. A senior police official said that two people have been arrested for alleged involvement in the incident that occurred on Tuesday, adding that Sepai was injured in the attack and was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

“Sepai was injured in the incident and was taken to a health centre. Two persons have been arrested. Efforts are on to trace other accused named in an FIR,” Meanwhile, queried about his alleged role in the incident, TMC’s Khalil Ahmed refuted the charges, claiming that the incident was.
