Chris Bavin joined the Escape to the Country four years ago and has an idyllic home life away from screens. The presenter, who has also worked on Eat Well for Less, Britain in Bloom and Food: Truth or Scare, has not always worked in the media industry. He held a totally different career for 18 years, and even went into business with his wife.

They scooped up numerous awards for their business but decided to give it up to focus on their family life. Chris has three young sons, and shares rare insights into their life on social media. He has branched into TV work over the years and now fronts numerous programmes, including property show Escape to the Country.

Chris and his wife Millie started a business together ( Image: Instagram) Second career Chris started off working in the fresh produce industry and continues to do so alongside his TV work. He imports and sells to wholesale markets across the UK, having done so for the past 18 years. In 2009, Chris and his wife opened up their own high street store called The Naked Grocer.

The shop was opened in Walton on Thames, Surrey, and the couple ran the business both from the store and from a farm for seven years. During that time, they won the title of National Independent Retailer of the Year twice, along with Elmbridge's Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award in 2013. He continues to import fruit and vegetables for company Pacific Produce and also works as a retail consultant.
