One Antiques Roadshow guest was left completely stunned on Sunday night after learning the true price of their wedding gift. During the episode set at Buckfast Abbey, which is a repeat and first aired in 2019, one guest brought their lion painting by David Shepherd for valuation. The guest explained they had received the painting last year as a gift from their mother-in-law, in a sweet history the painting had originally been given to her mother-in-law back in the 60s as a wedding gift by her sister, who had bought it at an art gallery in London.
Speaking to expert, Rupert Maas, he pointed out that artist David Shepherd was famed for his animal paintings. After explaining the history, Rupert revealed that the painting was valued at between £4,000 to £6,000 to which the guest replied in a two-word statement: "Good grief!" with Rupert joking: "Nice wedding present!"
