FILE: Costco plans to open its first wholesale store in Pleasanton later this summer. A long-awaited store is slated to finally open in Pleasanton this summer. The retail giant announced throughout the country, and the forthcoming Pleasanton location is expected to open sometime in August.

SFGATE reached out to Costco to learn more about the store, but a spokesperson said that Costco management had no further information. The city of Pleasanton approved plans to build the city’s first Costco store in 2017 at a 40-acre property known as the , located near Johnson Drive and Stoneridge Drive by Interstate 680. According to , the store is nearly 160,000 square feet and has parking spaces to accommodate 760 vehicles.

A 2019 development plan filed with the state of that the store will also have a gas station with 20 pumps. In addition to a Costco store, the 40-acre property is slated to debut two hotels, as well as retail spaces.
