An Australian TikToker has been left red faced after interviewing director Baz Luhrmann on the street without knowing who he was. Georgia Godworth was filming a video of streets of Newtown in Sydney when she came across a man in a green jacket. Ms Godworth began asking the man some questions about relationships, oblivious as to who she was speaking to.

Turns out that man was award-winning director Baz Luhrmann. Journalism for the curious Australian across politics, business, culture and opinion. She captioned the clip, which was posted to TikTok, “no idea this was Baz Luhrmann”.

Something that should have clued her in was the fact that Luhrmann gave the person behind the camera tips as to where they should film for better lighting. Mr Luhrmann seemed to take it all on the chin and enjoyed the unorthodox interview, giving some nuggets of wisdom and insight into his own approach to marriage with his wife, Oscar-winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin. The pair have worked together on all of Luhrmann’s movies.
