Arsenal fans were brutally fooled by rumours of a West Ham equaliser against Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season. The Gunners narrowly missed out on the top-flight title on Sunday in an enthralling race which went all the way to the last round of games. Arsenal needed to beat Everton , which they did, but required City to drop points against West Ham, only for Pep Guardiola’s side to record a 3-1 victory.

That meant that Arsenal’s hopes of landing their first Premier League trophy in 20 years were ended in heart-breaking fashion. To rub salt in Arsenal’s wounds, supporters inside the Emirates were tricked into thinking that West Ham had equalised at the Etihad. City’s two-goal cushion was reduced by Mohammed Kudus but rumours then spread that David Moyes’ side had levelled it up at 2-2.

Massive cheers and celebrations could be heard around the Emirates and one fan, seen on TNT Sports, gestured with their hands that the score was 2-2. The rumour of a fake West Ham equaliser against Man City fooled the Emirates 😬 ðŸ“o @tntsports & @discoveryplusUK pic.twitter.
