Grimsby community stalwart Alex Baxter will be presented with a Distinguished Honorary Fellowship from Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) at their upcoming graduation ceremony, The Distinguished Honorary Fellowship is awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the University and public life. Mr Baxter is Franklin College's Chair of the Corporation but is also well known in the North East Lincolnshire community for his other interests. His service in the Royal Navy inspired his current roles as Chairman for the Veterans Advisory & Pensions Committee for Yorkshire and the Humber, and Armed Forces Champion for North East Lincolnshire Council, among others.
He is also Managing Director of Joint Services Major Events Team, delivering all aspects of civil/military engagement and the Armed Forces Community Covenant on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Council. Upon learning of his award, Mr Baxter said: “I am humbled, honoured and extremely proud to learn that I have been nominated for the Distinguished Honorary Fellowship.
