Andy Lee has unveiled the epic transformation plan for his Melbourne property that will include an underground tunnel. The 42-year-old comedian, who is one half of the iconic Hamish and Andy podcast duo, purchased Ravenswood for $8 million with now-fiancée Rebecca Harding in 2021, with plans to renovate the river property built in 1876. The pair began the mammoth project late last year, sharing updates throughout their journey to an Instagram account dedicated to the revamp, thebuild_ravenswood.
Their newest update on Thursday revealed they will build an entirely new mansion closer to the river to make the most of the scenic views while honouring the old house — and connect the two properties via an underground tunnel below the piazza. Journalism for the curious Australian across politics, business, culture and opinion. “We gave the architects a few broad rules*:” Andy wrote on a photo of the artist’s impression of the new design.
“1. Honour the old house, 2. We’d like to live in the new.
“Flack Studio came up with this. The historic house sits proudly on its own and will be restored. The new part makes the most of the river views.
“All connected underground below the piazza 😊 🏡 👌🏼“*Bec had some other specifics about wardrobes but that’s not reflected in this drawing other than to say her wardrobe is pretty much that entire back building,” he wrote. The unique idea was welcomed with hundreds of comments from fans who are following their jou.
