Friday, June 7, 2024 As summer begins, People Like Us analyzed the travel plans of its American members, revealing notable trends and differences compared to general American travel patterns. Here’s a summary of our findings: The preferred domestic destinations for both general American travelers and People Like Us members are quite similar, with California and Florida leading the list. Other popular states include Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Washington, and Hawaii.
However, the nature of these stays differs significantly. A survey by Allianz found that “domestic hotspots still take the lion’s share (68%) of Americans’ summer itinerary bookings.” In contrast, People Like Us members often choose homes in residential areas and family neighborhoods, staying in real homes with more space and community integration.
Drew Seitam, Founder and CEO of People Like Us, explains: “While American travelers flock to Orlando for its hotels and resorts, People Like Us members opt for homes across Florida with multiple bedrooms, private swimming pools, and easy access to popular attractions. By saving on accommodation, they can spend more on entertainment.” Differences emerge in international travel preferences.
People Like Us members prioritize Canada as their top destination, while Mexico, a popular choice for general American travelers, ranks tenth. Australia and New Zealand are also top choices for People Like Us members, indicating a strong interest in adventures “d.
