A Welsh primary school choir had a lovely surprise while rehearsing at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay during a visit on Monday. Children from Cardiff’s Ysgol Treganna were rehearsing a song called Safwn yn y Bwlch in the Senedd building ahead of a royal performance on Thursday this week, when King Charles and Queen Camilla will themselves be visiting the Senedd to mark 25 years of devolution in Wales . As the Year 5 and 6 pupils finished their song, applause greeted them from all around, including from above where two people had - unbeknown to the children - been watching and listening.
They were First Minister Vaughan Gething and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was in the Welsh capital just three days after securing a huge majority in the general election which made him the first Labour Prime Minister since the party - led by Gordon Brown - lost the 2010 election to David Cameron’s Conservatives.
