Fortunately, much of the wine industry and its supply chain is now doing their bit to protect the environment. And Aldi have taken a giant sustainability step by introducing their innovative new bottles, pictured above. Made from Polyethylene Terephthalate, they are close to SEVEN times lighter than conventional bottles, with their unusual flat design allowing for up to 30 per cent more bottles on pallets, leading to considerable savings on transport costs.
And the new bottle can easily be recycled. A win-win situation for everyone. For now, there are just two wines available in the new eco-friendly format in Aldi’s Chapter & Verse series – a Chardonnay and Shiraz, both from Australia.
