"You were the jewel in our hearts, you were loved in every way." In an emotional funeral service at the chapel at Bury Cemetery, the mum of a 10-year-old girl who tragically died at home four weeks ago read a poem in tribute to her "beautiful" daughter. Shaylisha Morrison died on May 30 at her home in Ainsworth after suffering from sickness and diarrhoea for a few days.
Her funeral took place on Friday at the chapel in Bury Cemetery with her coffin arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. Her coffin was pink and decorated with Frozen characters, in line with the theme of the service. Her mum Debbie, dad Eddie and twin sister Chardonnay were at the funeral along with other family and friends.
Shaylisha Morrison (right) with sister Chardonnay (Image: Debbie Morrison) The vicar leading the service at the chapel, which was packed out, said: “Shaylisha was an integral part of the whole family, and she always will be forever to be loved and remembered by her twin sister Chardonnay who is feeling a kind of separation so intense.” Debbie read a poem she wrote for Shaylisha where she described her pain and overwhelming sadness. Part of the poem read: “There’s a place inside our hearts that only you can fill.
"You were the jewel in our hearts, you were loved in every way. “Now you’re gone you’re sorely missed each and every day. “We love you princess, sleep tight, fly high.
